Back-to-basics hands-on-training
Let’s face it – working in Aged Care is a hands-on career. Among other things, providing good oral hygiene, continence care, pressure area care and safe manual handling are not things you can learn easily from books. Sure, you can look at pictures and read about them – but nothing can replace practical back-to-basics hands-on training.
As Registered Nurses, ACT trainers have for many years honed their skills and developed a real love of elderly people to share with you. We emphasise practicing clinical skills while promoting a deeper understanding of the needs of elderly clients and ways to help them improve and maintain their quality of life.
All Care Training offers block style training where vocational placement is set within the courses to help students practice and apply new skills as they learn.
Our classes involve realistic role play examples of how to communicate with the elderly. Effective communication is a vital skill needed to work in this industry and is not always easy. Depression, dementia and other behaviours of concern can be a real challenge to carers. At ACT we spend time helping students develop effective strategies to identify and assist in helping overcome difficult behaviours in the workplace. Our in-class role-plays, whilst a lot of fun, have a serious side that will help you develop an approach that brings calm rather than chaos. Our scenarios are based on our experiences where positive outcomes were consistently achieved in real situations. Come join us in one of our courses and join our successful list of graduates working in the industry.
