My Generation – Rockin’ with Aged Care
Check out the amazing hit from the world’s oldest rock band and most unlikely global superstars – The Zimmers – with a 90-year-old lead singer and a combined age of more than 3,000. This cover of The Who’s My Generation is filmed in the Beatles’ studio at Abbey Road. This is the band that showed the world that you’re never too old to rock.
It seems even the elderly know how to rock! Maybe some of our students will meet some stars during their placement of our next aged care course starting 22 April – Aged Care Cert III (CHC30212)

Music, singing, performing and the arts are really the fertiliser of life. I like their written comments in the film clip – “I’m bored being in an old age home” was one. Did anyone watch the four programmes on SBS about 2yrs ago where in England they filmed over six weeks some celebrity oldies who were alone and put them together living in a house. The transformation was incredible. A couple of them even went back to work at the age of 80. Their senses were awakened and revived because they had to cook and do everything and best of all socialise and contribute to the group. Look at the happiness of this singing group. Just goes to show the companies building and designing accommodation for the aged, could take a different angle, like have groups living together independantly but with services available if need be. There would still be alot of need for high care as well.
