No.  There is no requirement for current holders of Certificate 3 qualifications to update to the latest Certificate 3 in Individual Support.

What’s different about the new course?

The course is very similar however there are a few changes:

  • There is one less unit of competency
  • Students must complete a mandatory 120hours of placement within a facility.
  • The language used across all relevant units has been updated to reflect current terminology and service provision.
  • According to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training the new Certificate 3 in Individual Support allows graduates to work under a broader range of job titles. Just finished my training with ACT and I can’t thank you enough for skilling me up so I can provide quality care for the elderly. The whole experience, from the initial contact to enquire about enrolment to classroom study and practical placement was fantastic. I can’t fault it. Sonya, you have such a wealth of knowledge and experience you made the learning interesting and fun. You took us on a journey but supported us every step of the way. Now I have a career working with the elderly. I feel competent and capable and able to offer a service which meets the individual needs of each client. A very big thank-you to you Sonya and the rest of your team. I have such fond memories of the whole experience xxxx
